The copper clad steel cable is a kind of composite wire with the copper layer covering the steel round wire. It takes advantage of the skin effect of signals with a low voltage and high frequency to travel along the surface in high-frequency zones. Therefore, as long as the thickness of the copper layer stays within a certain range, the transmission of signals in a certain frequency range can be guaranteed. Therefore, the copper clad steel cables may be scrapped if cases such as over-torsion, the fracture of a single wire in inner or outer layers, scratches in the surface, brittle failure, hunch-up, impurity because of inclusions happen. We have to pay attention to that.
What is the over-torsion: It means in the stranding process of the copper clad steel, excessive twisting and stranding will make the product in the form of a twist.
The causes of the over-torsion: First, the copper clad steel cable does not go around enough circles on the traction wheel, which is generally less than 4 rounds. The friction force is too small and thus the surface is too slippery, resulting in over-torsion. The second is that take-up tension is loose or the take-up reel does not rotate, while the body is still rotating, giving a rise to the phenomenon.
Solutions: If the single wire in the outer layer has been so severely deformed and damaged, there is no possibility of repair, it can only be clipped off. If the single wire is not seriously damaged, the rotating part and the drawing part of the equipment can be separated and we can make it rotating in the direction opposite to that of stranding so as to make the local twisted part return back to normal. Then, repair the wire core by hand, wind the excess single wire around the take-up reel, and pull the equipment and the rotating body into one. After the loose overpressing of the line model, press the wire with force, and repair the wire manually with another mold, so that the production can be started again.
