Ground electrode conductor is a kind of conductor used to connect the grounding electrode with the grounding end of the equipment, the grounding wire of the circuit or the independent branch system.
The grounding device consists of grounding body and grounding wire. Metal conductors in direct contact with soil are called grounding bodies. The metal conductor that electrician equipment needs to connect with grounding body is called grounding wire. Grounding body can be divided into natural grounding body and artificial grounding body. Natural grounding bodies include: 1) tap water pipes and other metal pipes buried underground (except for pipes of liquid fuel and flammable and explosive gases); 2) metal well pipes; 3) metal structures of buildings and structures in contact with the earth or underwater; 4) reinforced concrete foundations of buildings, etc. Artificial grounding bodies can be made of vertically buried angle steel, round steel or steel pipe, and horizontally buried round steel and flat steel. When the soil is strongly corrosive, the surface of grounding body should be tinned or galvanized, and the section should be enlarged appropriately. Horizontal grounding bodies are usually made of round steel with a diameter of 8-10 mm. The length of steel pipe with vertical grounding body is generally 2-3 meters, the outer diameter of steel pipe is 35-50 mm, and the dimension of angle steel is 40*40*4 or 50*50*4 mm. The top of the artificial grounding body should be buried 0.5-1.5 meters below the surface of the earth. Under this depth, the soil conductivity is less affected by season, the grounding resistance is stable, and it is not easy to be damaged by external forces.
